The Building Trades of Alberta (BTA) officially set up the Foundation in 2001, but our philanthropic efforts date back to at least 1991 when volunteers began raising money for Diabetes research. After formalizing the fundraising activities into a foundation, the BTA expanded our efforts to jobsite raffles. Most of the nearly $6.5 million raised by the Foundation has been raised through raffles, but the Foundation also holds other fundraising events throughout the year, such as our annual Curling Bonspiel, the 50/50 raffle at the Building Trades of Alberta Oil Kings Night and various events at the BTA annual Conference. Our annual Charity Golf Tournament is now named in honour of Brother John Tackaberry.
The John Tackaberry Memorial Golf Tournament would not exist without the cooperation and encouragement of our family, friends and co-workers. So, to everyone who contributes their money, time and /or effort to help ensure this event is a success and a worthy tribute to John, we say a big THANK YOU.
